Salvation
On the Day of Pentecost, the Apostle Peter preached a message including the plan of salvation. This message tells us what we must to to enter into heaven.
"...Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38)
Peter went on to tell the people that the Holy Ghost was a promise that was for them on that day and for everyone in the future. You can have this salvation today by following this three-step plan. The Holy Ghost is a promise for you today!
Repentance
We have all sinned. No one is exempt from sin (Romans 3:23). Since we have all sinned, we must repent of our sins in order to follow the first step in the plan of salvation. Repentance is simply telling God that you are sorry for the wrong things you have done, putting sinful living behing you, and walking the other direction.
Water Baptism In Jesus' Name
The next step in the plan of salvation is water baptism in Jesus' name. It is essential that we are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ because He died for our sins. Jesus shed His blood for us. Without that blood our sins could not be forgiven (Hebrews 9:22). When one is baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, the blood of Jesus washes over him and takes away all the sin in his heart.
The Gift of the Holy Ghost
After obediently completing the first two steps of the plan of salvation, the promise of the Holy Ghost is yours! Through prayer, the Spirit of God will enter a believing heart. When one receves the Holy Ghost, he will begin to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gives him the ablity to do so (Acts 2:4).
